WuT!!!!

"For some reason (probably because he’s black), Marvel character Black Panther has never quite gotten his due. Since being created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and debuting in a 1966 issue of Fantastic Four, he’s never achieved the marquee status of his peers, despite being the first major black superhero. Wesley Snipes tried for 15 years to turn the character into a movie, but all we got is three Blade movies instead.

Well now, BET executive Reginald Hudlin—who also started writing the Black Panther comic for Marvel in 2005—is bringing the icon to the small screen. In early 2009, a prime-time animated Black Panther series will debut on the BET network. And if the series is a success, you can bet the live-action movie (which John Singleton was recently rumored to be directing) won’t be far behind. After the jump, check out the trailer from 2006’s Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther, one of BP’s rare TV appearances."

I Hope BET does not f this up!!! This is my one of my marvel cartoon... please me please!!!

NBPP

"The New Black Panther Party would like to take this opportunity to officially congratulate Senator Barack Obama on his impressive and historic win to become the 44th President of the United States of America"

People who are not democrats like me can and did support the great Senator. regardless if they believe in the system or not, this election gives black people hope and belief they can achieve obstacles in the historically damned country.

He got good form... bet that was a strike lol!!!

NErks UP!!

No More Excuses

The November issue of "The Source" magazine got a lot of opinions about the presidential election from hip-hop artist, actors, comedians, etc. David Banner probably had one of the best quotes in the magazine. He stated:

"....Most people are looking at Obama as a savior. Most people are looking at Obama as relief for them. Obama is the beginning of Black people not having excuses no more. We can't blame it on "the man" because "the man" is about to be a Black man. So, this is our opportunity to squash all excuses and stand up and work harder. If this man gets in office, it's time for us to stand up and work harder because now the opportunity and the spotlight is on us."

This quote is true in too many different ways. This man has overcame just about every obstacle there is for a black man. So when it comes to excuses, WE HAVE NONE!! I feel like this is the first time since the Civil Rights movement that black people has come together for a common cause. We voted, and our voices were heard. But we can't stop there. We have to do just what David Banner said and work harder and take advantage of opportunities given to us!!

This LIFETIME In + Black News

Our President is BLACK.

History from My Seat

Yes I was in attendance Sunday night, accompanied by 27,000 other delightful souls to see the man of the hour (if not the century) Barack Obama. The atmosphere at Nippert Stadium was simply thrilling as a crowd of all different cultures and creeds yelled and hollered for one purpose, one reason. It honestly spoke to the underlying, yet never dying potential of this country to unite. By the time Barack got to stage a regular UC spectator would have thought the Bearcat Football team just scored the game-winning touchdown.

Barack would go on to give a simple yet breath-taking speech that captivated the audience and made the three and a half hour wait all worth it. The more he talked the more I was convinced he was just a regular guy from Chi-town. Saying statements such as “America has been hoodwinked” made think that he might just be a little cooler than me. After he concluded his speech it hit me that Barack and I are one in the same. We both see the world in a similar fashion. We both are committed to not just change, but to progress. Our common ancestry speaks volumes to that progression and to resiliency. Sunday night wasn’t just a night to see Barack, it was a moment in time that will forever be engrained in our national and ancestral history and I was blessed enough to have a seat.

ThiNkin Out Loud

Today while discussing the 14th amendment and Constitutional Voting rights, a white peer of mine proposed a question to our Professor: "Is White people's right to vote not Constitutionally covered??" I laughed when I heard this...then I observed his face which reflect dead seriousness. At this point I didn't know whether I should feel for him, or begin to question the mindset of the dominant culture. I say that because it seems to me that whenever a piece of legislation is enacted or arises, the question of whether or not the dominant culture is being excluded is brought up. Is this paranoia?? Ignorance?? Or pure curiousity?? Nas made a profound statement on his current album in the Song Slave & The Masters: "Anytime we mention our condition, our history or existence, they callin it reverse racism"
Now I wouldn't say its that serious but I do wonder what the underlying thoughts were behind his question. Any ideas?? LET ME KNOW.

Random Acts of Regression Entry II

As if his music, clothing, speech, and overall aura wasn't sufficiently annoying, Soulja Boy's ignorance has sank to a new a low. While interviewing with the Toure from the Black Carpet he was asked what historical figures he hated most and he responded with a comment even I wouldn't have expected: Oh wait! Hold up! Shout out to the slave masters! Without them we'd still be in Africa. We wouldn't be here to get this ice and tattoos."
I'm not sure if I should be sad that kids actually look up to him, or infuriated that he has a family behind him that hasn't snatched him by the collar for continuously making them look bad. Irregardless, Soulja Boy is now the new measure of what I don't want my nephews to be.

So thanks for that much Mr. Tell'em
Whatever,

Fam sorry for the lack of updates...midterm time so you should understand. ANYWAYS, has anyone heard about this initiative that has been launched?? Nonethelesss, it truly puzzles me why an institution that continues to construct new facilities has such a dyer need to scrape cake from the people. Then there's also my curiosity of where exactly the funds are going...am I hating, woud you give to this initiative??? I wanna know what you think so get at me!!
